I studied all sorts of plans to make my own feeder but for the price of this one it really didn't make sense to use the DIY approach.The simple design works even if the food in the tray gets a little wet.There is very little wastage from the birds "billing out" food.I am happy, as are my brahmas!Isn't it amazing what you can find on Amazon!
